Bo Diddley was a pioneer in the 1960s for early rock and roll with entertaining, up beat performances and his trademark distinctive guitar sound contributing to the act. The British Invasion helped to increase the awareness of the public to Diddley's importance and since then on he became a popular act.

Road Runner was released in 1960. It charted in the US at No. 75 on the billboard chart and No. 20 on the R&B Chart however it failed to reach the UK Charts. The song has since been covered by many artists.
