O Blind Guardian decidiu, então, criar seu próprio festival de metal.
O primeiro Blind Guardian Open Air Festival aconteceu em Coburg, Alemanha (terra natal dos integrantes), em 16 e 17 de junho de 2003. A banda tocou nas duas noites.
