Ridesharing giant Uber has burned through $5.2 billion in the last quarter alone.
Now, Gizmodo reports uber has suddenly frozen its hiring of technical and engineering staff in the U.S.
An Uber spokesperson says the company had exceeded its hiring goals for the year in its software engineering and product management teams.
Executives have not provided any timelines for when possible layoffs in its engineering department may occur.
