Description

He draws on his last cigarette
As the sun settles down.
Captured by his loneliness,
The early evening sounds.
A gentle breeze blows through his mind,
As silence slips away.
Trapped without a lifeline.
He's just living for the day.
Comfort's not his destiny,
A wanderer's life he chose.
Empty days filled his time.
Songs sung without a note.
A symphony of pretense,
A set without a stage.
A mirror sans reflection.
What is this life he made.
Huddled round a campfire,
Hungry for its heat.
His fortress built on sandstone,
Has crumbled in defeat.
Death now knocks upon his door,
Like a fifty dollar whore
Lessons never learned,
Return is assured.
Lessons never learned,
A wanderer's return.
