a remnant from the past.
A silent grim reminder that
our days go by too fast.
How sad to see an old house
where children once had played.
Where laughter echoed through the halls
and many meals were made.
A time where things were simple;
Clothes hung outside to dry.
The smell of breakfast cooking
would call all to arise.
Questions an scenario’s
go racing through my mind,
faces faded long ago,
deep in the stream of time.
Time holds to one covenant,
that is, to quickly pass us by.
She sweeps away our shadows,
she has no heart to cry.
Waves of melancholy;
I have to turn away
For in these ruins I see myself
for others soon to say,
How sad to see an old house where…
