Biden: Ukraine's problems start with Russian violations
Description
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
Russia must respect and follow the rules of international order regarding its involvement in the conflict with Ukraine, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday (April 30).
"Ukraine's struggle starts with an acute challenge of Russian violation of its sovereignty, territorial integrity and all the rules of the 21st century taught us that must be upheld. They have been flat violated," Biden said during a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C.
Biden said that consequences such as economics sanctions and visa bans would continue for Russia if it does not try to turn back the conflict.
He added that the U.S. would stand with its allies as isolation grows deeper for Russia.
"America has stood with Europe and always will, just as Europe has stood with us. And the progress we have made has been remarkable," Biden said.
