Bhanot to contest despite IOC objection

After the crucial IOA (Indian Olympic Association) meeting on Thursday (Oct 18), the sports fraternity are quite perturbed by the outcome of the meeting. There was no concrete discussion on any particular issue but the startling point was Suresh Kalmadi's key aide Lalit Bhanot's nomination for the post of the General Secretary in the IOA. Bhanot, who is co-accused of CWG scam, has filed his nomination for the General Secretary election. Despite the IOC (International Olympic Committee) ethics committee's recommendation to suspend tainted Bhanot from all his functions within the IOA with immediate effect, the IOA's decision leaves a serious question mark over the credibility of the highest sporting body in the country and the credibility of its fight against corruption.
