Bert Bell - Who Moved the Stone?

He told them that he was the Son of God,
They flogged him and they made him bear the weight
Of the heavy cross before the hissing crowd,
To Calvary where they nailed his hands and feet.
Upon his head they placed a crown of thorns;
They raised him up to hang there in the heat,
And cast lots for the clothes that he had worn.
They gave him vinegar to quench his thirst,
And pierced his side to bleed out in the sand;
He must have thought his aching heart would burst.
And as he died, they mocked The Son of Man;
They entombed his corpse behind a heavy stone,
Which Roman soldiers all night long had manned;
But in the morning Jesus Christ was gone.
