Berhana Breaks Down "Grey Luh"

Berhana first emerged on the scene in 2016 with his soulful, self-titled EP. The Atlanta-based singer garnered viral attention for his track “Janet,” an ode to actress Janet Hubert who portrayed the original Aunt Vivian on ‘The Fresh Prince.’ The song taps into melancholy sentiments and discussions surrounding colorism, while the stunning video raked in over 1 million views on YouTube.

Berhana has also seen success with his EP track “Grey Luh,” produced by his collaborator Sapphire Adizes.

The singer tells Genius that he initially wrote the chords and hook for the song while he was in school, juggling different jobs and an internship at ‘The Colbert Report.’ The lyrics reflect on being caught up in a complicated relationship, while also dealing with a state of loneliness.
