Bendix by Honeywell Launches Online Educational Campaign for Teen Drivers and Parents to Improve Vehicle Reliability and Safety

Thirty percent of young drivers experience a roadside breakdown in their own car by the time they reach 19, according to parents in a recent survey commissioned by Honeywell Friction Materials, maker of Bendix Brakes. The survey results suggest teenagers lack a basic understanding of auto maintenance that could lead to increased vehicle breakdowns and even more serious accidents.

The online survey was conducted in August by Harris Interactive among 500 parents of teen drivers age 15 to 19 who have their own car. And while many parents report having discussed both safe driving and car maintenance habits, the high incidence of roadside breakdowns is proof that more needs to be done to keep today's young drivers from being stranded, or worse, while driving.

In response to the survey findings, Honeywell launched ‘Bendix Brakes for Teen Safety,’ a digital social media program aimed at educating teens, and their parents, on proper vehicle care and maintenance to keep them safe on the roads. The first video in a series aims to light-heartedly show viewers that teens really don't know much about car safety by hitting the streets and getting some candid feedback on basic car maintenance questions. In addition, Honeywell Friction Materials provides its ‘Top Five Car Care Tips for Teens’ video to help guide younger motorists on their driving journeys. More information can be found on Facebook, or on YouTube.
