Description

A frayed knot
A worker put to waste, pushed from the barracks
To the barrens of wherever
They were everywhere, wishing it were never
Again

The dogs fill spots between the silences
And everyone waits for silence
Saying,
“Just once, mutts”
Unsettling the dust in the barrens, with dogs on the end of knots
Fraying, making due, wherever

Never again, afraid not
Life in wait, wasted
A stolen soul in a broken sole

The garden’s gate, the thoughts left unhinged
“Don’t ask questions, it’s just a phase we’re in.”

Through blackened matchbooks, gardenias are sent to the barrens
Cursing life, and the phase there in
Wishing (if at all) it were never again
They were everywhere, wishing it were never
Again

Afraid not
A frayed knot
Again
