Ben Huff - My Inner Self

Outside these hollow walls
Is my great escape
No, not to freedom
But from this artificial me
No matter who calls me
I cannot be late
There is no use to defend
Cause I’ve escaped to the real me
It hurts to see what’s left behind
But my past has been all to unkind
I’m leaving before tomorrow comes
Before my work is undone
It was love that held me together
And it is love that helped me find
My inner self
Lost before I knew it
Years have gone by
And I’ve barely had a glimpse
Of what was inside
Waiting for the moment
To be reawakened
Apathy towards others way of life
With lethargy toward my own strife
For there is no goal, no final destiny
Least not for me, and the ones like me
Life is here for you, life is here for us
So enjoy it while it last
Don’t make yourself an outcast
For that is the path of the lonely
A road, no one, should travel
