I
Poets, have lots of fun
being clowns of sounds
juggling words around
laughing with what is done.

They will amuse and confuse,
refuse to follow the rules.
They fiddle, play their songs.
It’s never dull for long.

Reading their works of art
we can then all take part
and leap with “joy, even hilarity”.
That’s how every Poet wants it to be.

II

A new understanding is happening when
we see images and pictures fuse
in created worlds that amuse
us into joining their gaming den.

Poets have lots of fun
and want to give us some
to see us forget our cares and sorrows
to be the children of tomorrows

who will make their world a place of joy not sorrow
to take with us a bit of their fun.
To quote Karl Shapiro
poets make us their heroes.
