I went to our place today
Without you.
I should’ve known better.
For it shattered all that we created,
Standing there
Alone.

I breathed in the faded grass
And grieved for the grass we once lay on,
The indents of our bodies forgotten forever.

I crawled into our hiding place
And felt my hand encased in yours.
I could almost see the smile you smiled
Only for me

The words we wrote still remained,
Etched into what we claimed as ours.
I traced them with my fingertips
And felt a painful calmness
That I never felt with you.
