Beckham starts Spurs training
Description
David Beckham was all smiles as he trained with Tottenham for the first time.
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder wrapped up warm in a light blue hat and Spurs training top as coaches Clive Allen and Joe Jordan put the players through their paces.
Former Real Madrid team-mate Jonathan Woodgate, Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane, and England striker Jermain Defoe were among those to share a joke with Beckham as they took part in small circle exercises.
Beckham, 35, was given the green light earlier this week to join Tottenham after competing a series of fitness tests at the club's training ground in Chigwell, Essex.
It is understood Beckham is keen to play for Tottenham before returning to the Galaxy before their first match of the new Major League Soccer season against the Seattle Sounders on March 15.
As things stand, Beckham will only be at the club to train until February 10, with Los Angeles said to be concerned over insurance issues should their midfielder suffer another injury like he did when on loan at AC Milan ahead of the World Cup.
However, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has not given up on seeing the former England captain in a Spurs shirt out on the pitch.
"It's great to have him here. We worked hard to get him here hoping that he could come and play," Redknapp said.
"No-one could have worked harder than Daniel Levy, the chairman. They grafted away trying to get a deal done where he could play for us. It's a bit complicated, but you never know. We'll see how it goes."
