Beau Bennett - When I Was A Child

When I was a child, I saw a man that I wanted to be like
he was full of confidence, charisma, foresight, and insight
when I was a child I made myself a tiny little wish
that man was my father and I wanted to be more fatherish
it seemed all his plans where made to fruition
I always hoped, someday I'd get his fatherly intuition
when I was a child my father made sure I wanted for not
he did it with such ease I never knew how much he thought
when I was a child my father seemed so mighty and tall
now that I'm older all I fear is when my father will fall
it seemed like a thing that never could come to be
I dread life without him, for he's so much stronger than me
I hope that someday hell go to sleep without worry
knowing his small child has grown strong and burly
I just wanted you to know father, that all my mistakes are mine
and you taught me everything good in me with your wisdom filled mind
