BCCI handicapped when it comes to bookies

BCCI: Addressing the media after the BCCI meet in Chennai, BCCI chief N Srinivasan said that the committee does not have the power to control betting. "We are not a police or a govt organisation, so we are handicapped when it comes to control over bookies."

The BCCI chief said that they have promised full cooperation to the Delhi Police in its investigation and have requested the police to give the BCCI more information to conduct domestic inquiry.

Srinivasan said that there will be Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) officer with each IPL team now. Ravi Sawani has been appointed to look into the disciplinary actions that need to be taken against the arrested players. He also announced that all players, agents are to be accredited henceforth with the BCCI. "Player access will be monitored closely," he said.

When asked what action BCCI is planning to take, Srinivasan said, "probe is not over; will act against cricketers if they are found guilty."

Defending the IPL and the other cricketers, Srinivasan said, "It's not like the world has come to an end, only three players have been accused. You cannot point fingers at IPL."
