Batu Estate demolition postponed

In dramatic circumstances, DBKL has postponed the demolition of the last 38 wooden houses of former Batu Estate workers at the eleventh hour after negotiations between residents' legal representatives, SP Muthu Veloo and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) operation enforcement officer Osman Haji Ismail.

Osman has verbally agreed to defer the demolition for two weeks
According to Muthu (right), DBKL hopes that the residents and developer, Mayland Sdn Bhd, can reach a conclusion on terms of compensation in the next two weeks.
