Battling Tops

These fighting tops were made by the famous Japanese toy company Tomy. They called them Tomy Battlers, and the toy has a copyright date of 1987 on the bottom. Tim bought this in the UK the following year.

You wind up the launchers by hand, and they are then ready to launch the tops. As the tops spin around, they bump into each other, and often one of the tops will be knocked out of the ring, leaving the other as the winner.
