Basic Concepts-Whitewater and Rapids

A good place to start with terminology is with the term “whitewater.” Simply stated whitewater in part of a river that looks white because it is moving very fast over rocks or other obstructions. The white appearance of the water is caused by air entering the water and causing it to be “frothy.”
