Barry Van Allen - It Matters

She had a hold, and let it go,
she could look well beyond my eyes,
and right into my soul,
and never realized she could.

She was the only one that could back then,
although, I never told her so,
I expected her to understand,
and why? - - - I'll never know.

I never came to see a woman,
beyond her eyes, that way,
at least as far as I have known,
... not that I realized, ... until today.

I guess, that's not quite true,
because, I have enjoyed the view,
as I recall... it felt like something new,
- - - I think they call it love.

Another looked into my eyes,
... with hers,
and saw what was in mine,
... with hers,
and knew the truth, ... right there,
about the deepest parts of me,
that I would not even tell... me.

She never had the hold though,
and I can't explain why not,
she always had the access though,
but, somehow never got it,
it is the essence of the feeling,
that only two can share,
that is the ever - present healing,
that is between the two that care.

It always matters how it happens,
if you want it to be right,
because the lovers, of the daytime,
must always sleep well through the night.
