Description
ALL I WANTED
By Barbara Lynn Terry
All I ever wanted in life, is love
and to be beautiful as a white dove
to cherish memories so fine
to be able to call someone mine
to hold a picture and reminisce
of laughter and play just like this
All I ever wanted was a mother
to ask advice and talk about...boys
to help her make the dinner
in my mind would be a winner
to go shopping with and buy new clothes
and laugh at the sizes way too small
we would try to wear for only a moment or two
to ask her if her dress I could borrow
to wear on my date tomorrow
All I ever wanted in this life of mine
was to have happiness and time
to romp and skip and laugh and play
to dance in his arms, oh so strong
and giggle and smile oh so sweet
while dancing the night to the beat
in my stockinged feet
all I ever wanted...
