Banana Child was formed in Lima, Peru in December 2015 by 4 friends, Santino Vega and Diego Malaspina, who knew each other from university. Franco Yangua and Santino had met at a vintage store 2 years ago and later they start playing together and creating acoustic ukelele/mandolin surf songs. They put both projects together and brought Sergio Yangua, Franco's brother, and he was the nexus for the formation of the group.

Their first gig was a kermesse in which they covered 4 songs from bands as The Drums, Mac Demarco, Guantanamo Baywatch and Wolfmother. Then after their public debut at Lima Rockea and Converse Rubber Tracks, they already finished the recording of their first album, which contains 15 songs.
