Marseille in a heat wave. You can practically hear the city getting sticky. Three young friends hang out on their balconies, doing what any reasonable people would do: chatting with the neighborhood like they’re casting a reality show, meddling just enough to feel alive. It’s playful. Then night falls, drinks happen, and suddenly the joke turns into something sharp and messy.
What starts as casual “let’s watch what’s going on downstairs” chemistry becomes a trap. Not the stylish kind. More like, you stepped into the wrong room and now the door is closed, the air is hotter, and you’re somehow responsible.
Les femmes au balcon, or “Balconettes”, is a 2024 French dark-leaning crowd-pleaser. The fun is real, but so is the point where it stops being funny. If you like thrillers that grow teeth while pretending they’re just having a good time, this one’s for you.

Marseille schwitzt. Nicht so „sommerlich, aber hübsch“, eher so „jede gute Idee klebt dir an der Haut“. Drei junge Freundinnen sitzen auf ihren Balkonen und machen das, was man in einer Hitzewelle eben tut: neugierig sein, frech kommentieren, die Nachbarn ein bisschen „mitbetreuen“. Es läuft gut. Zu gut. Bis eine Nacht mit Drinks nicht nur Stimmung liefert, sondern das ganze Viertel in Bewegung setzt. Plötzlich sind die Grenzen zwischen Beobachten und Eingreifen weg. Und aus Small Talk wird ein Problem, das nach Blut aussieht und sich trotzdem wie ein Unfall anfühlt.
„Balconettes“ ist kurz gesagt Nachbarschafts-Komödie mit schiefem Grinsen. 2024, Frankreich, und die Spannung entsteht aus genau diesem Gefühl: Man kann nicht ewig zu viel sehen, ohne irgendwann selbst Teil des Dramas zu werden.
