Bahrain Protests continue, opposition leader's detention extended
Description
Anti-government protesters take to the streets for the ninth straight day, demanding the release of Bahrain's main opposition leader, Sheikh Ali Salman.
Sheikh Salman was detained after being summoned for interrogation by the Interior Ministry on December 28, setting off a wave of public disapproval.
And now, the public prosecutor has extended his detention for another 15 days.
Sheikh Salman's lawyer says the opposition leader has four charges against him.

"They are: inciting a change of government by force, inciting hatred of a segment of society, insulting the Interior Ministry and inciting others to break the law."
As the street protests rage on, Salman's al-Wefaq Islamic Society party -- which he leads -- claims his detention is revenge for his being re-elected as the society's head... and for their boycott of November election
