The year descends
Falling down around us now

Conclusions spilling out
To annual wonderings
A handful of evenings left

The weeks are tallying themselves up
The calendar is short of empty boxes
Annual longings all expired
A fist of day-times left to throw

Dripping with hope and bright disbelief
