Avanet by Avatech is a crowd-sourced mountain observation platform designed to alert backcountry enthusiasts about avalanche hazards. The technology is based around a probe called the SP-1, which is used to take snow readings that are instantly uploaded to the free Avanet ap. Even without the probe, users can report snowpack observations through the app to help skiers, snowboarders and climbers make better decisions when in the backcountry.
