Auto-Augmentation Mastopexy
One significant challenge with breast lift procedures is achieving adequate upper pole fullness when lifting the breasts. The "upper pole" refers to the area of the breast above the nipple-areola complex, which may be visible in swimsuits or cocktail dresses.

Factors like aging and post-pregnancy breast atrophy can lead to a loss of volume in the upper pole. Additionally, some patients may have naturally droopy breasts with minimal upper pole fullness from the start.

If there is insufficient upper pole volume before surgery, a conventional lift alone may not significantly enhance this area. However, there are three approaches to improving upper pole volume during a lift:

Breast Implants: Adding implants during the surgery, known as "augmentation mastopexy."
Fat Grafting: Injecting fat into the upper pole either during the surgery or in a subsequent procedure.
Auto-Augmentation Mastopexy: Redistributing central lower pole breast tissue to the upper pole.
