August is the solo project of London indie pop artist Steve Hughes who is releasing his new single ‘Heal’

With a brooding opening and epic chorus, ‘Heal’ is an anthem reaching out for something bigger. Hughes explains, “The initial idea came after a friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. Myself, and a bunch of close friends, felt totally helpless seeing someone we cared about hit by tragedy so young and all we could do was hope for a miracle. HEAL taps into that desire for hope to reach into a dark place.”

With each release so far, August has unveiled a gift for emotive song writing, in the shape of previous singles such ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Chemical’ which both received radio support from BBC Introducing and BBC 6 MUSIC, with ‘Ghosts’ also featuring on Match of the Day.
The inspiration behind the moniker, August came from an old song Hughes wrote previously with the same name, and it was also the month he started working on this new project. August has recently appeared live supporting Meadowlark & Frida Sundemo and has previously supported 21 Pilots. There will be more live shows happening later this year.
