Taita
“Taita, taita, taita” we sing together;
When they screamed, “you can’t”;
We dreamt, “we can”.
When they laughed, “you don’t”
We shouted, “just watch us”
Because taita, we have done it.

With a poetic voice, we sing Taita.
With ululating and dance, we know Taita.
With hearts full of love;
And with joy in our pockets;
We hummed Taita.
Because after all Taita, we have done it.

“Taita, taita, taita” the children sing,
Give me a calabash of sunshine;
Weave me a basket of happiness;
Tie a cloth of gratefulness for me;
Spread it all on a blanket of love;
Because Taita, with your hand in mine.
With real love binding me & you, we have done it.
With a love so rare, Taita.
