Jawaharlal Nehru’s focus on scientific solutions led him to support and encourage Homi Bhabha, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, to set up India’s atomic energy programme. The BARC was set up in Mumbai. Nehru’s vision made India self sufficient in nuclear technologies.
