Pakistani actress and former All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader Atiqa Odho has been acquitted from the illegal wine possession case. ARY News reported.
Pakistani veteran actress and television personality Atiqa Odho has been acquitted from the case of possessing illegal wine. The actress was caught in year 2011 at Benazir International Airport in Islamabad after two bottles of imported wine were recovered from her luggage. The flight was bound for Karachi and Atiqa was not apprehended by officials, most probably on account of her political affiliation with Pervez Musharraf.
However, then Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had took suo motu notice of the offense and registered a case against Odho. Atiqa was head of the women’s wing in Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League and was one of the most public faces of Musharraf’s lightweight political party.
