Atari 7800 Composite Audio / Video Mod Tutorial - ZanyGeek
Description
In this video we install a custom built mod kit that will upgrade your Atari 7800 audio and video to Composite outputs. It disables the dirty Rf signal and gives you sweet, clean Composite Audio and Video. This Atari 7800 has never looked or sounded as good. This is truly a improvement over the factory Atari 7800.. If the two of us can do it, so can you..

This mod replaces the old RF Output (coaxial) with better
quality composite audio/video (RCA cable). This mod will give your system a better picture and audio, you will not need any adapters/switch boxes or tuning to hook it up to your TV.
You will notice how much clearer the game is, it doesn't have the "noise" and static after installation. Imagine the difference this makes on today's big screen TV's.
Many newer LCD and Plasma TV's cannot use the old
connectors directly. This kit will allow your console to hook up directly to your TV's RCA (Composite) (Yellow--White) input.
The main tools you will need are wire cutters, a soldering iron, and scaple and drill with 1/4" bit. The process itself is fairly easy and I had a detailed guides from the vendor. It involves soldering the included wires to the mod kit, cutting or de-soldering a few parts from the Atari mainboard and soldering in the wires to the circuit board. You will also need to drill holes in the Atari case for the included RCA jacks.
Be sure to follow the Installation Guides carefully. This mod will work for NTSC as well as PAL systems. I am not responsible for any damage done to your system that results from not following directions. This kit is designed to work when installed correctly on a fully functioning system. Please note this mod will permanently disable the original RF output.
