Assad forces grow in strength as rebel onslaught continues

The fightback by Syria government forces continues apace.

Troops loyal to Bashar al Assad have been stepping up their attack on the northern city of Aleppo further diminishing the chances of a peace conference taking place this month.

The insurgents have suffered a recent series of battlefield setbacks which advancing government soldiers appearing to regain the upper hand.
