Description

I use to watch the dew drip from the flowers, sitting on the moist grass listening to the easy breathing of the world as it begins to stir from its deep slumber. Like glass marbles, they'd spill from soft pedals, falling in slow motion, tranquilly reflecting grey morning skies. I'd lay on my back, feeling the ground soak through my shirt, water cooling the back of my head. I'd listen to my thoughts calling out like whispers into the thick silence. Long they drifted but never an answer did they sound. No, even at such an early hour my thoughts roamed away. The soul was left to wander unquestioned, to wonder what lay beyond the bounds of this mortal existence. The mind was gone, far away over the dim horizon. I realized how insignificant I really was in the huge vastness of this space. I understood that in a few breaths, I would be one of these ghosts who walk in God's hour, a faint glimpse of a lifetime. The air is so quiet while the world sleeps. Perhaps when I die, I will be the grey in the early sky.
