Description

Japan’s Mount Ontake volcano erupted on September 27, sending an ash cloud into the sky and causing cinder to fall as far as 3km from the volcano’s crater. According to reports quoting the Japanese Meteorological Agency, smoke engulfed the south face of the volcano. The Nagano fire department has received reports of injuries to hikers. This video shows the ash cloud from the north east side of the mountain following the eruption.
