In darkness, restless winter night
When hope seems but a memory
When there is no one, there is no light
Tell me, my dear, will you come to me?

Love's answer was this, 'How can I come?
To come I must have been away
My love with you I am forever and some
By your side at night, in your shadow by day'

When life is too much, when bitterness abounds
When I spout fire and push you away
When I tell you I don't want you around
Tell me my love, will you go or stay?

And Love said 'If there is a time when all seems wrong
I will stand by you and hold your hand
When your hope is weak, I will be strong
No matter what you say, I’ll understand'

When I lose my mind, when I cannot control
When I am wrong in what I know to be true
When I fight so that I may lose my soul
Tell me my dear, what will you do?

Love spoke thus 'If into Hell you walk unknown
I will hold you back, I will not tire
But if there be no other way, you will not go alone
I shall walk before you into the fire'

When doubt fills my mind and I must go
To find my own reality
Alone, to a place only I can know
Tell me my love, where will you be?

Love replied 'When bound by love you are always free
Take your time, it will never be too late
If we are true, I know you'll come back to me
My soul is with you, my body shall wait'

When I have no worth, nothing left to give
When I can offer no reason for you to stay
When I have lost all my reasons to live
Tell me, to me what will you say?

And Love replied 'I shall not say too much
But in my arms I’ll make you see
With countless kisses and endless touch
What you are, how much you mean to me.'
