I am sorry that I live
Honestly, where some would have me deceive,
Myself, from the worth of mine;
Gold! that I received from a mortal divine.

I am sorry that I smile
At sorrow, to bring happiness for a while.
To forget tears express feelings happy and sad-
And a person smiling solemn is only mad.

I am sorry that i spend my tears-
Expensive they are, should save them for later years:
Sorry to cry at things smaller,
For not using them to grow taller.

I am sorry that i learned to love,
The honest poor, than people above;
To cry at a child's sad smile,
To laugh at an adult's tear so agile.

I am sorry that one day i will die,
Leave memories but no reason for lovers to cry.
I am sorry that truth is now forsaken,
Sorry for being a part to have it taken.
