Arul: They decided last year that Hamidi stand here

PSM Secretary-General, S Arutchelvan who had hoped to stand again for the state seat of Semenyih under the Pakatan Rakyat banner, revealed in his thank you message to volunteers and supporters that PKR had decided for Azmin Ali's Hamidi Hassan would stand instead.

In the election, BN's Johan Abdul Aziz retained his seat polling 17,616, beating Hamidi Hassan of PKR by 4,145 votes.

Arutchelvan himself fared far worse than 2008, polling just 5,568 votes.

At the 2008 general election he narrowly lost to Aziz by just 1,140 votes.

However Arul said that on the flip side, this was the first time that PSM had contested under it's own logo.
