Trees have life, therefore they must not be cut down recklessly. As our ancestors did since the old days, I offer sacrifices to the trees before I cut down a tree to make a Jangseung totem pole. By doing this it is believed that another new life is created in the tree.
The trees are ready to give themselves away...
The trees in their original don't have any expressions nor warmth...
