I am a man of sadness and woe
My terrors won't let me be
Because wherever I wish to go
Melancholy follows me

I find no escape in the vast trees
For their green leaves turn to black
Nor love to be found for vast blue seas
Happiness I seem to lack

Nor does the gentle breeze calm my rage
I've sought answers in the rain
To break out my dark bleak cage
I sought, o I sought in vain

Seldom A smile on my face
Guided by Irony
Reality, I cannot trace
With life and piety

I've ventured deep into my soul
Yet I've found not a thing
For my heart can never be whole
With no sweet song to sing


And so in sadness of my own
I had met my weary end
My deep thoughts had this very tone
Until I met my friend

She aired the melancholy I had
I called her to see
Why had her face been o so sad
When she looked upon me


Eyes deep as mine if not deeper
Her voice was cold yet sweet
She told me she was a weeper
Grief she could not defeat


And there our souls began to twist
Grief, deep inside our eyes
We disappeared into the mist
No one hearing our cries


Though we always stay together
Happiness is madness
Because we shall be forever
Content in our sadness
