Description

Interesting Fact: The Aristocats (1970) — This film marks an important transition period for Walt Disney Productions, as it was the final animated feature project that was personally approved by Walt Disney himself before his death in 1966. He had greenlit the original concept and storyboards, but the production process continued without his direct supervision. The studio's animators and directors had to find their own way to bring the story to life, making it the first Disney animated feature film to be entirely completed after its founder's passing. The character of Scat Cat, the trumpet-playing stray cat, was originally designed with the famous jazz musician Louis Armstrong in mind, both visually and vocally. The character was even initially named "Satchmo Cat," a direct reference to Armstrong's well-known nickname. However, due to health issues, Armstrong was unable to participate in the recording sessions. The role was eventually given to Scatman Crothers, who provided a memorable voice performance that still captured the essence of the jazz-loving character.
