Are Tech Conferences Still Relevant?

Living in Seattle, the only people I can really spend time with personally are either going to or passing through the immediate area. Thanks to tech conferences like these, we can connect face-to-face and meet new people while strengthening bonds with those we seldom get the change to actually see.
