What white is not the whiter
for being next to blue,
Or red the richer twixt
shades of sombre hue,
What man beside a giant
does not feel the smaller,
Or when standing near a midget
does not feel the taller.
How much better a man may feel
against one using no restraint,
How great are his shortcomings
in comparison to a saint.
And ao we have our values
the weight of better against worse.
How insignificant are we all
compared with the universe.
