14’ x 16’ is not a large space
some art on the wall
rugs on the floor
just a bed
some other furniture
books
a chaise lounge
an object of beauty
carefully placed next to the window
(as if to announce the threshold
of public and private
dynamic and static
blossoming and degenerating)

14’ x 16’ is not a large space
just
wide enough
for endless distance
deep enough
to be an invincible pit
deaf enough
to mute the voice
dark enough
to stain the soul
obliging enough
to bleed the life slowly but completely.
