Arcade - It's Time (1979)US,Prog Rock

US rarity released on the unknown UMI Records.Arcade's ''It's time'' (1979) fails to deliver the promises of the opening track ''Part of the show'': Mesmerizing Sympho Prog with straight links o the complex side of Hands and some Jethro Tull influences, featuring strong electric guitar, synths and captivating, sinister instrumental moves. But as the track states, this was only a small part of the show, which becomes vastly different from this point and on.The rest of the way follows a significantly calmer sound with prime psychedelic and Folk influences and a Westcoast vibe, the acoustic guitars prevail along with the synthesizer and electric piano and the lyrics take over the instrumental sound of the band. There are still some light proggy touches to be found (for example on ''If you had any guts'') , especially in some theatrical singing lines and dreamy guitar/keyboard collaborations, but the qiality drops and the atmosphere is more radio-friendly with plenty of vocals and some rather pale solos in the scarce electric moves.A collector's time for sure, the first piece leaves much to be desired.
