Arathy Nair - The Introspection

There is a lunatic inside me-;
If u could call a dreamer, lunatic.
But would any lunatic be as derisible
As I am- to think fireflies flying
Above my night sky are twinkling
Stars that came down for me?

There is a monster inside me,
Clawing its way out- tearing
Right through my heart;
It has no mercy…
No need to panic, I am not
That monster- it is lurking behind me
Thrusting its diabolic fingers
And scaring the unaware onlookers;
While I stand there flummoxed-
What the hell happened?
Let this not deceive you
I am as sane as you are-But
I am not afraid to accept
The lunatic side of me…
