When the inky night gave birth to the beast,
You woke up to a deafening clap of thunder.
Your vision was blurred because of a dense mist,
''Abre los ojos! '' you heard, looking around in wonder.
A scarlet dragon, having seven heads and ten horns
Was about to burn you with yellow murderous fire,
Wagging its long bushy tail full of thorns,
When suddenly firm invisible hands raised you up higher.
Dead silence hung over the earth until the spirit spoke,
''You, one of the two witnesses, are given the power
To prophesy, though the people might think you blow smoke.
The beast will make war with you, a blood shower,
And you must die in order to gain the right of rebirth,
But when you go up into heaven, you'll find your hearth.''
