In the latest big announcement from the tech-world,... Apple says it's transitioning from Intel CPUs in its Mac computers to its own A-Series ARM-based processors,... similar to those already used in iPhones and iPads.
At the firm's World Wide Developers Conference, the WWDC, held virtually for the first time due to COVID-19,... Apple said the first silicon-based Mac would ship by the end of 2020,... with the full transition to take two years.
The shift would allow Apple to hold even greater control over its hardware and software like it has with its mobile devices.
For users, it promises a longer battery life, more efficiency, with the same instant-on features.
