APC primaries leave top Senators humiliated
35,434 Views • May 26, 2026
Description
The recent All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries have stirred up a storm, leaving several prominent senators fuming and alleging foul play. While Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jubrin Barau, and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele secured their tickets, the aftermath for others has been far from smooth.
Disgruntled aspirants are already lodging complaints, with allegations of planned attacks forcing some, like Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Ogun State, to withdraw. Senator Jubril Issa has vowed to retaliate, and Senator Ned Nwoko claims APC legacy members are being sidelined.
Adding to the turmoil, Senator Adeyemi has threatened to escalate his grievances beyond the equity states if the president doesn't intervene. With the general elections looming, Nigerians are keenly watching how the APC will navigate these internal rifts to maintain party unity.
